Hey friends! HAPPY APRIL!
We've gotten a gloomy start to this week but we had great weather this weekend!
Saturday kicked off my busy season with events. Our company actually had a total of three events on Saturday to kick off the season! Whew!
I was happy that I had Saturday morning free to catch the first Fayetteville, AR Farmers' Market of the year on the downtown square. If you haven't ever been to the Fayetteville Market or even been to a farmers' market in your town, you should definitely check it out! This is the best way to shop local and support your city and neighbors!
I love the Fayetteville Farmers' Market for so many reasons! So I am excited to share what I love about it with you today!
According to their website, The Fayetteville Farmers' Market started back in 1973 and has grown to be the "Crown Jewel of Fayetteville". It was voted Favorite Large Farmers Market in 2012 and voted #5 in the nation in the 2011 American Farmland Trust’s America’s Favorite Farmers Market Contest.
The Vendors at the Farmers' Market come from each of the four counties in Northwest Arkansas. Each bringing their own locally produced products ranging from fruits, vegetables, flowers and other locally produced goods to custom crafts, art and woodwork! The vendors are always so kind and knowledgable about their products!
I don't know anyone who doesn't love the selection of fresh flowers at the market! What I love most is that you can purchase fresh flowers in season in a range from just budding to full bloom! There are also vendors that sell a variety of plants and herbs that you can purchase to plant at home. I'm keeping my eye out for a peony plant come May and a few others that Collin and I can plant later this Spring. What I love the most is that the market is open Saturday mornings, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings so you can pretty much pick up fresh blooms any time of the week - all while supporting local! I always love to have fresh flowers in our home on a weekly basis, they add freshness to any room and can brighten any mood :)
One of my other favorites about the market is its location in early Spring, Summer, and early Fall - right on the Fayetteville Square! With plenty of parking around and at the Fayetteville Town Center even if you have to take a short walk it's nice to pass all of the local shops on the square as well. You can make a whole day of it!
The best party about living in a smaller town is the community. Everyone is always so nice and cheerful and it's great to get out and meet new people and interact with your community at the farmers' market! It's great for kids and there are many people that enjoy bringing their dogs too! There are many street performers playing music and it creates such a fun atmosphere. I love interacting with the vendors and asking questions about their products - they are passionate about what they make and grow!
You can catch the market every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00am-1:00pm and every Saturday from 7:00am-2:00pm! You can also read more about the Fayetteville Arkansas Farmers' Market on their website HERE!
