DIY Laminated Placemats
I hope everyone is having a great week so far. We are drying out here in Northwest Arkansas after all of the crazy thunderstorms and flooding we got this past weekend. I had a multi-event weekend and we had guests in town which made for a busy couple of days!
I'm excited to be sharing these DIY placemats with y'all today! I was working on a decor project for an event last weekend and while working on the project, I had an idea for another project LOL. I was laminating a few pieces that would compete a decor look last week and thought of an idea to make laminated placemats. I love placemats and have a few here at the house in a variety of materials. Mostly fabric. While I love the look and feel of the fabric they aren't the easiest to clean. I wanted some everyday placemats and some outdoor placemats that I could customize to my own look and have for everyday use with easy clean up!
My initial idea was to do pressed florals, but I wanted to share this with y'all this week and drying out and pressing the flowers will take some time. I plan to update my post with the pressed floral placemats when I finish them hopefully next week! I can't wait for y'all to see them! So stay tuned on that!
I found myself at Hobby Lobby today and picked up this adorable fawn fur printed fabric. I've always had my eye on fawn fur and plan to incorporate that look throughout my home overtime - I'm looking for a fawn fur throw and pillows if you find any!
Knowing that I could do an 11x17 laminate at Fedex Kinko's instead of purchasing a laminator and all that mess, I cut my fabric to size 10x16 to give a nice clear border on the mats. Then I literally hopped over to Fedex and ran them through the laminator and Voila! SO EASY and super QUICK! I got enough fabric to make 6 and it only cost me $9.00 for the fabric and $3.99 per laminate making these babies less than $6.00 a piece for custom placemats!
I plan to make some fun black and white striped ones for our back patio and the pressed florals to switch out with the fawn fur print fabric from time to time. I love them so much already!
I wanted to link the other items in my picture for you here in case you were interested! I got our breakfast nook chairs from Target and the rug from Wayfair! You can read about my DIY Hand-Lettered Wood Sign Tutorial Blog HERE! I am loving our breakfast nook look!
Let me know if you try out the placemats and I'd love to see pictures of what you make! Post your project on Instagram and #graceandmerriment
I hope y'all enjoyed this post and that you have a great rest of the week!!
